It's never that easy!
If you've been reading on AI/ML bias, one might come to the conclusion that if you simply ignore or delete the demographic data, the problem is resolved. It's not that easy according to Stephanie Kelley, Anton Ovchinnikov, Adrienne Heinrich, and David Hardoon. In fact, not only is it not easy, but eliminating that data can increase the problems. They write, "But while this data exclusion practice has reduced discrimination in human-based decision making, it can create discrimination when applied to ML-based decision making, particularly when a significant imbalance between population groups exists." It's been a while since I read anything on design thinking. If you aren't aware, "Design thinking is a systemic, intuitive, customer-focused problem-solving approach that organizations can use to respond to rapidly changing environments and to create maximum impact." This post goes beyond the basics talking about different models like design-to-value, design for value and growth, design for sustainability, as well as skinny design.
