PREDICTION EDITION: He predicts; They predict; Money and errors
He predicts
Predications are always fun to read. Some are broad and vague enough to be assured of coming "true." Some are specific and the author is stepping out on limb with their predictions. Still others are unrealistic, wishful thinking or outright sales/marketing propaganda. There are many AI related predictions (you could expect no less) but I would draw your attention to David Kessler's prediction: "In 2025, I expect we will see our first lawsuit where a company sues an existing opposing party, its counsel, and its e-discovery vendor for failing to implement reasonable security. The case will arise from a cyber incident at the opposing party that resulted in the loss of the company's production of documents in the litigation and the exposure of significant business secrets." I predict David will be right with his prediction. If you've got predictions of your own, shoot them my way! For the other fun, wishful and marketing predictions, be sure to read more at Legaltech news: Legal Tech's Predictions for E-discovery in 2025

They predict
Speaking of predictions, Sam Altman offered one very interesting prediction after saying that "We are now confident we know how to build AGI as we have traditionally understood it." AGI is artificial general intelligence and typified by what we see in science fiction TV shows and movies. Sam's prediction is a doozy, "We believe that, in 2025, we may see the first AI agents 'join the workforce' and materially change the output of companies." ( I wonder if Open AI has their equivalent of Ian Malcolm challenging Sam?) Regardless, you can't get more specific then this year and more impactful than calling for material change. I'm sure Sam's smarter than I am, but I'm not sure I'd predict he is right on that one. Louis Rosenberg's gives his superpowers prediction more time (2035) then Sam. I feel very empowered by my smart phone (going back to my original Treo), but I'm not sure I'd say I've gained super powers. (Anyone else hear the voice of Edna Mode when talking about super powers?) Toss a super powered hat tip to SHIFT*BASE as you read more at:

Money and errors
Two final highlights for today. Microsoft is planning to spend an insane amount of money ($80 billion) on data centers for "artificial intelligence (AI) training and inference and other cloud applications." And a reminder or maybe a reality check on all the AI predictions above, Apple Intelligence, is continuing to deliver fake summaries of headlines from news apps. So Sam's team is going to have to work extra hard to make AGI a reality this year. Read more at Silicon:
